PJ Walker, Nathan Peterman and Tyson Bagent are vying to be the backup quarterback for the Chicago Bears starter Justin Fieldsand coach Matt Eberflus suggested the undrafted free agent could have the inside lead.
Eberflus said he liked what he saw from Bagent The team is 24-17 Losing to the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night and the possibility of him being listed No. 2 on the depth chart at the start of the 2023 season.

“I think everything is open at the moment. I really do,” Eberflus said of Pro Football Talk. “You don’t put a cap on any player. You will see guys stepping into a game and starting to improve.”

When pressured, Eberflus doubled his attack.
“Everything is open at the moment,” he added. “Anyone can look at the squad and see who is in a competition. These will all be open. If you close your mind to it, you may miss something. So you have to leave it to yourself.”

Walker and Peterman are the veterans of the group while Bagent is trying to make his mark.
Bagent played football in Division II Shepherd University. He was an Associated Press Division II All-American and played in the 2022 Senior Bowl. He rushed for 4,580 yards and 41 touchdowns last season and had 5,000 yards and 53 touchdown passes in 2021.
On Saturday, he was 9 of 10 for 76 pass yards and a quick touchdown.
