A detained man was rescued by a commando group armed with rifles as he was taken to a medical center in a Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service (SPB) vehicle in Campana.
According to the police, it is Juan Manuel Colauti (46), who has a previous conviction for robbery.
This all happened around 9:30 a.m. this Wednesday at the corner of Belgrano and Liniers, where a Ford Ranger truck carrying at least four criminals intercepted the SPB truck that was taking the prisoner for a health check.
After stealing the agents’ weapons, they rescued Colauti and fled along Route 6 towards Exaltación de la Cruz aboard the Ranger, whose first letters on the license plate are AF.
According to the speakers, the perpetrators were armed with rifles.
Montauti, a prisoner at Campana Penal Unit 21, was transferred to the San José municipal hospital because of a heart condition, Télam said.
How did the rescue operation go?
The gang managed to overpower the four prison inmates responsible for the transfer – an officer in charge, a driver and two guards – and stole their service weapons – three Bersa 9mm pistols – and the keys to the vehicle.

“It was the third time he was taken to San Jose Hospital with a doctor’s appointment for a heart condition,” a spokesman told the inquest.
The rescue occurred three blocks from the Campana turnoff of the Pan-American Highway and about 20 blocks from the hospital.
